Our community isn't ready to have these conversations. Bravo for having them anyway. Only when we talk about these matters can things change for the better. I grew up hearing the same things about women and saw how men get away with very little expectations.
Wah Sanobar ! This is so difficult to say and yet no other way to say it as effectively as the direct one ....and you have done not just that .... But that with fantastic structure and writing ...
Brilliant! When you write, we feel like we occupy empty chairs in that very room where these conversations are happening. We are there, cheering you on and admiring your horns. You go girl! You speak for so many us. And you heal us all.
Sanobar you have written on a topic as complex and rage provoking as this in a perfect way. You have also articulated for many many of us who either witnessed or faced injustice but chose to stay silent to keep the peace, which we know now is not peace but a space equally uncomfortable. This piece needs to go wider.
I feel you Sanobar. Thank you for writing about such an important topic in a such an engaging way. I could literally see all three of you having this conversation and the heat rising in your nose and face and your breath becoming shallower as you struggled to respond in a calm way.
I do hope and pray that all of us do a better job at raising our sons. 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽
I have been thinking alot about this piece since I first read it - and I loved the scene you shared of the conversation happening over scrolling on phones - you captured that moment very honestly. In my mind, this convo actually makes you the peace keeper :) It's also full of love, you could have let this go, but you chose passion and love. thanks for sharing! and don't forget us here on substack!
Sanobar - the ball and the bat out of the park. Your anger, your empathy, the solutions found and the lessons for your children are so well expressed. Thank you for saying all that you have. More power to you and the 2 mothers.

This is so relatable. Thank you for sharing!
When will things change? :/
When we start speaking up. Now is a good time :)

“Sugar laced with silence” Maar dala Sanobar . Speaking for so many silenced ones .
Hitting the nail on the head! 🙌🏽
Reading this calms the angry flames perpetually burning within me.
