Amani was an artist. This monologue was written by her and drafted by Ashtar Theatre in 2010. She dreams about the ‘war’ coming to an end. I wonder if she’s alive. Does she know the ‘war’ has turned into a full-blown shameless genocide?

I have a voice. It may be a teeny-tiny voice. It may as well be a drop in the ocean. But, a voice it is. And when this voice joins hands with other writers, I know deep down in my gut that it can move mountains. The world has perhaps never witnessed mass solidarity the way it is witnessing now.

We, the writers at Ochre Sky Writing Circle, have come together to make sure the dreams of the likes of Amani don’t die with them. Thank you

and for bringing us together, for offering your warmest and most nurturing of spaces.
